THE FILES ARE HERE. When I started this project, transparency was of key importance, and in keeping with that, I present to you the long awaited files. These should explain everything, and give you a clear look into what we're up to behind the scenes:
You may notice a few minor redactions (safety first), but this is nothing to worry yourself about.
Testing has been going great, the models are all perfect.
Just look at that. Incredible.
Didn't think you'd see Rob and Sterling in the files did you.
ALL KIDDING ASIDE...TWOnew FM sizes are live:
6'2 + 6'4 FM
The people have spoken. Hundreds of requests later, we caved.
The single most requested thing in my last 8 years of shaping - smaller FMs. Admittedly, this request has twisted my brain into a knot over, and over, and over, and over - as a PURIST - the thing that makes the FM so cool is what happens when the design is expanded, so the push for "SMALLER IS BETTER" has befuddled me (I like big boards and I cannot lie.)
BUT.I cannot deny what I've seen. The numerous 6'4 FM's I've shaped for friends in Hawai'i for playful smaller days over the last few years has pushed me over the edge.. Watching friends smooth out their style and still take the boards to places beyond my expectations is something to take note of, so I did, and I caved, and I'm actually really amped on the result.
This is the FM experience in a nuggetier package for all you who have let your mind wander into the expanse below our beloved 6'9. The outline is a little more balanced and neutral, the thickness flow is balanced, the vee is lessened and pushed back a little - and the fins are a little less tracky than its larger counterparts.
This, for all intents and purposes, is the peoples FM.
This size addition is an exercise in getting over myself, listening to my crew, then working through the ideas and variations enough to put me RIGHT onboard with yall.
STOCK SIZING IS LIKE THIS:
6'2" x 2 3/8" x 2 1/2" 32.7L
6'4" x 20 1/2" x 2 5/8" 35.4L
Of course you can tweak that a bit if you need, but, honestly, they're perfect. If you were to do ANYTHING, I'd back people going 2 1/2" on the thickness of the 6'4 if you really wanted to, but its not necessary. OKAY enough is enough - go click around an check it out, these things are really rad and I cant wait to have some stock available soon - at the moment ordering a custom will be the fastest turnaround:
This is the particular 6'4 I scanned - shaped late last winter, she's owned and piloted by my friend Sydney Maczkca who kindof put the nail in the coffin for me, super super smooth and user friendly right from the jump.. Then I saw Kyle Galtes thread a stupid 1' tube that nobody should make on his and the deal was done.... so here we go :)
More models from the vault are inbound pretty shortly here, I promise....
